Recognition of external exam results

General

Results which were not achieved at the KIT (e.g. at other Universities or abroad) can in pricible be recognized (e.g. recognition of single courses, recognition of laboratory works as a research paper, recognition of course combinations as supplementary subjects,...). Requirement is of course, that the results were stated (exam with grade), the necessary documents were handed in and the achievement meets the requirement of the KIT.

You are asked to hand in the following

  • Name, adress, telefone number and e-mail-adress here in Karlsruhe

  • Name and exact adress of the previous bisherigen university

  • degree programme/curriculumof the previous university

  • lecture notes

  • certificates of the exam results (incl. range of grades)

  • filled application form of the board of examiners: NEW degree programme  Recognition of external exam results (fill in online, print afterwards!)

After evaluation of the material and the final decision by Prof. Uhlmann you'll be informed.

Recognition of study periods, course achievements and exam results

(1) Study periods, course achievements and exam results within the diploma curriculum "Civil Engineering" at a university or equal academy in the scope of the "Hochschulrahmengesetz" (Framework Act for Higher Education) will be recognized after application. A pre-degree examination will be accepted without verification of euivalency. The recognition of parts of the diploma examination can be denied, if more than half of the qualifying examinations or the diploma thesis are to be recognised. 
(2) Study periods, course achievements and exam results within other degree programmes, at other university-level institutions within the scope of the "Hochschulrahmengesetz" or at institutions outside the "Hochschulrahmengesetz" can be accepted , if the equality is accepted.

(3) Recognition of practice oriented activities for the internship on construction sites is regulated in attachment 1.
(4) Degrees at universities of applied science and universities of cooperative education in the subject "Civil Engineering" will be recognised as pre-degree examination. Other course achievements can be recognised according to paragraph 6.
(5) Degrees in the subject "Civil Engineering" at other domestic or at foreign institutions will be handled according to paragraph 4, if they are equal to degrees at a university of applied science.  
(6) Equality is to be ascertained, if study periods, course achievements and exam results are in accordance to the diploma curriculum "Civil Engineering" in content, amount and in other standards. In doing so it's not a schematic comparison conducted, but an all over appraisal.    For the equality of study periods, course achievements and exam results at foreign universities the equivalence agreement condoned by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic and the Conference of University Presidents and the cooporation according to university partnerships are to be payed attention. If there are doubts regarding to the equality the federal Centre for foreign education can be asked for advice. 

(7) If course achievements and exam results are recognised, the grades are to be transfered - as long as range of grades are similar- Werden Studienleistungen und Prüfungsleistungen anerkannt, sind die Noten - and taken into the calculation of the final grade. The recognition is marked in the certificate. If grade systems are different the annotation "accredited" is made.
