  • Postdoc at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain, working on the near-wall layer in wall-bounded, incompressible turbulent flow and the numerical investigation of possible control strategies (1998-1999)
  • Postdoc at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Germany, focusing on small-scale instabilities and their role in the turbulent energy cascade (1999-2002)
  • Researcher (first Ramon y Cajal Fellow, then staff) at the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT), Spain, focused on numerical simulations of multi-phase flows (2002-2008)
  • Humboldt/JSPS Fellow at Kyoto University, Japan, with the subject of the stability of flows in channels with two non-homogeneous directions (2003-2004)
